Hi, I have a 1926 14/4 withn clutch problems. On disassembly one of the 6 clutch springs was distorted and bent and the steel drive plate appears very thin and scored ,but the clutch linings have plenty of meat and are in good condition. My reason for stripping the clutch is that there was very little pedal travel and it screeched on take off. I would be grateful for any info /specs technical data on the springs and drive plate and wherethey might be got. Many thanks in anticipation of your assistance.

I have found that greasing the clutch shaft through the grease nipple and putting some on the clutch release plate help to stop the screeching. You have to be careful to not over grease the shaft and risk it going onto the lining. The clutch has screeched on my 14/4 when I have not used the car for a while. I had the clutch plate remade about 15 years ago and it has worked well. This was done at a local engineering shop, using the original as a pattern. I had the clutch relined at the same time by a company that does brake linings.

The problem I have had sometimes after re-assembling the clutch is judder if the three levers are not adjusted evenly.

Hope this helps you solve the problem.
